A Quooker and an AGA: better together

Posted on July 06, 2026

When the AGA goes off for summer, it's not the ovens you miss first – it's the kettle. Here's why a Quooker boiling water tap makes such a natural companion for the AGA kitchen, through summer and beyond.

Sparkling on tap? Until the end of August, we're offering £500 off when you buy a Quooker tap together with a CUBE. Get in touch to find out more.

There comes a day in early summer when the AGA gets switched off. And after the heat we’ve had lately, I suspect that day has come and gone for most! If yours is a traditional oil or gas model, a familiar ritual takes place – the supply valve is closed at the tank, a service is booked, and you're no longer relying on it for daily cooking. The feel of the room changes gear, settling into summer mode.

And if you’re anything like me, it's not the roasting oven you miss first. It's the kettle.

All year, you take it for granted – the kettle on the simmering plate – always hot, always waiting. A cup of tea is the work of a moment, no thought at all. And then, summer. The cooker is cold, so out comes the electric kettle and it’s back to filling it up, flicking the switch and waiting for it to boil. A small thing, of course, but a small thing you notice, several times a day, right through the summer. And it's true for every AGA in the summer, not just the traditional ones: even the hotplate on a modern electric model needs ten minutes to heat up from cold, which is fine for cooking but longer than most of us want to wait for a cuppa.

This is where a Quooker tap comes into its own. Boiling water straight from the tap, the moment you want it. A mug of tea while the garden's still dewy, fresh eggs poached for breakfast with no waiting, green vegetables blanched in a heartbeat, jars sterilised for summer jams. All without firing anything up, and without putting a degree of heat into a kitchen you've gone to some trouble to keep cool.

And with a Quooker tap, boiling water is just the start. You can add hot and cold from the same tap, and a CUBE for filtered chilled and sparkling water – which, on a hot afternoon with people arriving and ice running low, is no small mercy. (We sat down and came up with 25 everyday ways a Quooker comes in handy, if you'd like a few more examples!)

And come autumn, when the AGA comes back on, you'll find that now you couldn’t be without it – it's simply an essential part of how you use the kitchen.

So if your AGA is resting for the summer and you've found yourself reacquainted with the kettle, now is a good moment to think about a Quooker. We're offering £500 off when you buy a Quooker tap together with a CUBE until the end of August, and we're confident you won't find a better price.

You can read more about what a Quooker costs to buy and run, come and try one over a cup of tea at either showroom, or drop us a line and we'll talk you through it.

And if it's the ovens you've been missing this summer, well, that's worth a conversation too. The old oil and gas AGAs so many of us grew up with are wonderful things, but a modern electric AGA like the Signature (eR7) or Signature Induction (eR7i) gives you all of that character with far more flexibility. You can switch every oven and hotplate on or off just as you need it, even programming them to come on automatically, so you can cook right through the hotter months without heating the whole room, and when winter comes, sink back into that familiar, always-on warmth.

If a new AGA is on the agenda, simply get in touch. Our family has been living and working with these cookers for three generations. We’ll talk you through our best offers, including a discount when you trade in your old cooker.
