It depends on which one’s you are comparing. For instance, to take the most efficient traditional model, which is the 3 oven Gas, that would cost about £29.75 per week to run 24/7, with all ovens and hotplates on all of the time.
If you were to run an electric model like this, it would be more expensive, but because of the added flexibility in reality it’s usually cheaper.
Taking the most efficient electric model, the eR7, if you have the ovens on full 24/7 that would cost about £30.97 per week, plus your hotplates would be in addition to this. However, in slumber/economy setting the ovens are about £15.09 per week.
Most people run their eR7 so they’re on full during the day in the very cold weather, and turned down to slumber overnight, then as the weather warms up the AGA is left on slumber all day as well and ovens are turned up just to cook on and then during the summer months the AGA is cold and turned on/off for cooking.
Run like this you’ll find the eR7 will average, across the course of the whole year, less than £10 per week. In the winter it will cost you more as you use the AGA to heat your kitchen but in the summer you’ll see your weekly cost drop if you use it from cold.
