AGA Classic | AGA R7 range cooker

The AGA Classic is the most traditional of the modern electric AGA models, with cast-iron ovens designed to be always on – warm and waiting, ready to cook the moment you are. Its controls are simple and considered: four oven temperatures, including a low eco setting, and two cast-iron hotplates for boiling and simmering.

It’s closest in character to the traditional AGA – the one your grandmother had perhaps, radiating that unmistakable gentle heat throughout the kitchen. If you want the traditional, always-on AGA experience, without the flue and servicing requirements that came with the old gas and oil models, the Classic is the one for you.

Which AGA Classic is right for you?

100cm (3 ovens)

cast-iron roasting, baking and simmering ovens, always on, with fast heat-up hotplates – the natural starting point for most kitchens.

150cm (5 ovens)

the 100cm with a 50cm module adding two more cast-iron ovens, for slow cooking and warming, plus the option of a warming plate or induction hob on top. A good fit for a household that cooks a wide range of dishes through the week.

160cm (5 ovens)

a 60cm module sits alongside the 100cm, adding a slow-cook oven with grill and an A-rated fan oven, plus a gas or ceramic hob. Fast, responsive heat alongside the always-on cast iron.
210cm (7 ovens) – adds both the 50cm and 60cm alongside the 100cm, for the largest AGA Classic and the most cooking capacity in the collection.

What makes the AGA Classic different?

  • Three cast-iron ovens – for roasting, baking and simmering – designed to be always on, with four settings including a low eco setting
  • Twin cast-iron fast warming hotplates, with a warming plate or single-zone induction hob on the 150 and 210
  • Continuous background warmth radiating into the kitchen, day and night
  • Simple, considered controls – four oven settings and two cast-iron hotplates, a boiling plate and a simmering plate, with nothing to programme
  • Cast-iron ovens coated with Altrashell, for easier cleaning
  • No flue required – a choice of room-vented or externally vented, on a standard electrical supply with no annual servicing needed

The AGA Classic is one of AGA's cast-iron collections, alongside the Signature, Compact and Mini – all built on the same radiant, heat-storage cooking. If you'd prefer a fully conventional range cooker instead, our Conventional Collection covers the AGA Masterchef Deluxe and Mercury models. Running costs and installation

Because the AGA Classic is always on, running costs largely come down to which of its four settings you use – the low eco setting uses a fraction of the energy that full heat requires, while still keeping the cast iron ready to cook. For full model-by-model figures, see our AGA running costs guide.

The AGA Classic is fully electric, so it needs no flue. Choose room venting and it doesn’t require an external wall or a chimney breast, or specify it externally vented if that suits your kitchen better. We carry out a free site survey before every installation to confirm what your kitchen needs.

Pair your Classic with a compatible AGA hood.

How does the AGA Classic compare?

vs AGA Signature – the Signature's ovens can each be switched on or off as you need them. The Classic's three cast-iron ovens work together and stay on, though its twin hotplates operate independently of each other and of the ovens. Choose the Signature for flexibility; choose the Classic for the traditional, always-on AGA experience. AGA Signature

vs AGA Compact – the Compact (eR3) combines cast-iron ovens with an induction hob as standard. At 634mm, it isn't as deep as the Classic, so it sits within a standard run of kitchen units rather than standing proud of them. Choose the Compact if you need a cooker with a smaller footprint than a full-depth AGA.
