Cranberry Sauce with Sparkling wine- Our Christmas favorite!

Posted on December 09, 2020 in AGA

Are you looking for something special to add to your Christmas dinner? How about this cranberry sauce with sparkles created by our wonderful AGA cooking demonstrator Penny Zako. It really is a fantastic simple recipe to cook on your AGA cooker for Christmas.

Penny used delicious Alder Ridge sparkling wine available from Cobbs Farm. This sauce has been so popular in our cooking demonstrations we thought we would share it again for everyone. It goes perfectly with pig in blankets. So festive!

  • 200g caster sugar
  • 450g cranberries – fresh or frozen

  • Place the sugar into a pan and heat on the simmering plate,
  • once it has dissolved and starts to bubble and change colour, add the cranberries.
  • Cook for about 10 minutes until the cranberries have burst and you have a jam consistency,
  • pour in a little SPARKLING WINE,
  • bring the sauce to the boil and then pour into a bowl to cool completely.
  • If you wish to freeze the sauce for up to 2 months do so before adding the SPARKLING WINE, then when reheating add the SPARKLING WINE.
  • You can also make the sauce 5 days in advance and store in the fridge.

Hope your Christmas is full of sparkles!
